New Op-Ed, Collaborating with Law Enforcement Is Worth the Time Every Time

An op-ed by Robert (Bob) Bermingham, Director of Court Services for the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court (Fairfax, VA) and member of the RFK National Resource Center’s Probation System Review Practice Network, was recently featured on the Juvenile Justice Information Exchange (JJIE). In his op-ed, Collaborating with Law Enforcement Is Worth the Time Every Time, Mr. Bermingham highlights “the incredible value of partnering with law enforcement on the front end of the juvenile justice process” and how this partnership is critical in efforts to divert youth out of the juvenile justice system. Mr. Bermingham emphasizes that by focusing on shared goals — particularly community safety — law enforcement and juvenile services in Fairfax County, Virginia have fostered new opportunities for collaboration, including the implementation of a jurisdiction-wide restorative justice program.
